2016 Maui Comic Con

STEVE LEIALOHA is best known for his inking and penciling on Vertigo’s Fables (from the first issue to the last), garnering five Eisner Awards and also illustrating the only Fables novel Peter & Max! Other Vertigo contributions include: Jack of Fables, Nevada, Petrefax, the Dreaming, Sandman, and Dead Boy Detectives.

Since the mid 70’s he was an inker on Warlock, Howard the Duck, Daredevil, the GI Joe silent issue, Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, Captain America, the Avengers, Secret Wars II, the Fantastic Four, and the original 1977 Star Wars movie adaptation.

For Marvel and DC Comics he has also drawn Dr Strange, Iron Man, the X-men, New Mutants, the Hulk, She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Star Trek.


TRINA ROBBINS has been writing books, comics, and graphic novels for over forty years. She has written and drawn comics from Wonder Woman to Barbie. Her 2009 book, The Brinkley Girls: the Best of Nell Brinkley’s Cartoons from 1913-1940 and her 2011 book, “Tarpe Mills and Miss Fury,” were nominated for Eisner and Harvey awards. Her all-ages graphic novel, Chicagoland Detective Agency: the Drained Brains Caper, was a Junior Library Guild Selection.

Her graphic novel, “Lily Renee: Escape Artist,” was awarded a gold medal from Moonbeam Children’s Books and a silver medal from Sydney Taylor Jewish Library Awards.

Trina’s final and definitive history of women cartoonists, Pretty in Ink, was nominated for an Eisner, and the 20016 Wimmen’s Comix collection, edited by her, was an Igntaz nominee at the 2016 Small Press Expo. In 2013, Trina was voted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.

She is currently working on her memoirs.


JAMES SILVANI is a cartoonist and illustrator living in Hawaii. He draws comics for various publishers and wrote a book about drawing dinosaurs called DRAW-A-SAURUS.

James has illustrated Disney and Muppet comics for BOOM! Studios as well as interiors and covers for IDW and APE Entertainment. He is currently working on Darkwing Duck comics for Joe Books and Disney with writer Aaron Sparrow.

James also published Draw-A-Saurus; a “how to draw” book about dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. It teaches the young artist to start with the simplest stick figures to create the dinosaurs of their dreams.


TAD STONES is a Producer/Writer/Artist who started his animation career at Walt Disney Features then moved to Disney Imagineering to design rides for EPCOT Center. He was one of the founders of Walt Disney TV Animation where he created such shows as Chip ’n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck along with several feature spinoffs.

After 30 years at Disney, Tad produced several direct to video features, most notably two Hellboy Animated movies, Hellboy: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Blood and Iron. He’s just finished directing and co-writing the first season of a Netflix Original Series, Kulipari: An Army of Frogs, which began streaming in September.


AARON SPARROW broke into the comics industry as a copy editor for Tokyopop, eventually moving on to write English adaptations of manga titles such as Devil May Cry 3, Hyper Police, the critically acclaimed Dragon Head, as well as the story “Family Values” for Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft: Legends anthology.

In 2009, Aaron became the Lead Editor on Disney/Pixar/Muppets titles, developing their all-ages line and masterminding the triumphant return of Disney’s Darkwing Duck with artist James Silvani. Aaron has also worked on comic books with DreamWorks Animation and Sesame Workshop, and is currently writing Joebook’s current Darkwing Duck monthly comic series.
